Hot & Cold Aisle Containment

Data Centre Solutions

Hot aisle containment is a strategy where the hot air generated by IT equipment is contained within a specific aisle in the data centre. The aisle is enclosed by walls or other barriers that prevent the hot air from mixing with the cool air in the rest of the room. The hot air is then vented out of the data centre, typically through a ceiling vent or ductwork. By containing the hot air, the cooling system can be more targeted, and energy usage can be reduced.

Cold aisle containment is the opposite strategy, where the cool air is contained within a specific aisle in the data centre. The cold air is directed toward the front of the IT equipment, which draws in the cool air and expels the hot air out the back. This strategy can be particularly effective in situations where high-density equipment is in use, as it allows for more targeted cooling and can improve overall energy efficiency.
